CNN Money names Tim Cook CEO of the year

Well deserved. Tim has had a pretty amazing year on a lot of fronts. The Apple Watch is an exciting new product, the new iPhones are performing extremely well (even as their competitors fall flat on their faces), and Apple's organization and structure seems to be really taking hold in Tim Cook's Apple.

For me, though, this goes well beyond having a pretty stellar year, financially. I was inspired when Tim took a stand and came out. It was a bold move showing solidarity not only with a large portion of your employees, but with a greater community at large. I want to believe that this will give hope to those who might otherwise question who they are, and encourage them to live their lives as true to themselves as possible.

He also stood up for Apple earlier in a way that has continued to resonate with me. When confronted by Justin Danhof of the NCPPR about Apple's efforts to be a greener company, he showed his true leadership:

“When we work on making our devices accessible by the blind, I don’t consider the bloody ROI,” Cook said, adding that the same sentiment applied to environmental and health and safety issues.

He told Danhof that if he did not believe in climate change, he should sell his Apple shares. “If you want me to do things only for ROI reasons, you should get out of this stock,” he said.

This is a man that deserves to be at the head of this company. He's a person who embodies the values Apple stands for and knows the impact a company can leave on individuals, cultures, and the world at large.

CEO of the year, indeed.
